Olvidé poner el disco nuevo de Art Brut en la lista: Art Brut vs. Satan. Mi canción favorita es Twist and Shout.
Favoritos de lo que va del año:
1. THE THERMALS: Now we can see… Obviamente, tiene que ser el número uno, el disco perfecto para cuando te decepciona el mundo. Mejor que cualquier terapia.
2. ST. VINCENT: Actor… Annie Clark, antes conocida por su participación con Polyphonic Spree, brilla por sí sola con esta colección de joyas melódicas.
3. TELEKINESIS! : Telekinesis! éste me gusta porque me recuerda mucho a los Beach Boys.
Y sigo esperando ansiosa a que me llegue por correo el nuevo de Au Revoir Simone.
Ya casi acabo este libro y me encanta porque combina dos de mis más grandes gustos: la cocina y la literatura. Es un recetario y una gran novela a la vez. Mi receta favorita es la que viene en la página 111 (huevos a la Rudy Waltz) porque termina con una nota irónica de referencia al cuento de Ricitos de Oro y los tres osos:
“Serves three: the papa bear, the mama bear, and the baby bear who cooked it -and who will clean up afterwards.”
Y sí, algunos niños siempre resultan siendo sirvientes de sus padres. Así es la vida.

My “mexicaussie” sister, Andi, sent me the fantastic new record by The Grates by postie last week. I just got it today. I’m writing this in English because I know that you, Grates (on tour), are among my 3 followers here. That makes me happy. And I also feel as inspired by these new songs as I did when I heard “Gravity Won’t Get You High” at first. I wrote and directed a play two years ago, and it included some dance numbers set to songs from that album. It was performed for no profit, and in my back yard. LAS SANGRONADAS DE ALAN BALL…
Yo fui fan de hueso colorado de Six Feet Under de principio a fin. Por eso estoy esperando ansiosa el estreno esta noche de True Blood, su nueva serie de vampiros. Se ve de lo más interesante…
Este mes me fui de vacaciones a la playa con mi familia. Además de visitar lugares espectaculares como la isla de Holbox y las pirámides de Cobá, estuve mucho tiempo tumbada al sol cual lagartija, leyendo.
Estos fueron los que leí:
SLAPSTICK (Kurt Vonnegut): una deliciosa farsa apocalíptica en la que se revoluciona el concepto de “familia”.
ARTEMIS FOWL: THE LOST COLONY (Eoin Colfer): las aventuras del chico prodigio y la detective Holly Short nunca me han decepcionado. Colfer tiene una manera muy pícara de tergiversar las groserías (“before the manure hits the air circulator…”)
DRÁCULA (editado por Fernando Marías): una antología de cuentos acerca del vampiro que no me pareció muy espectacular.
JAILBIRD (Kurt Vonnegut): éste también está muy gracioso.
FABLES 1001 NIGHTS OF SNOWFALL (Bill Willingham): novela gráfica muy bellamente ilustrada.
CHARMED THIRDS (Megan McCafferty): éste es como pasarse horas platicando con una mejor amiga muy entrañable.
